Values and Approaches

Philosophy and Values

Dr. Drozda bases his practice on the values of confidentiality, understanding, openness, care, professionalism and experience. Clients should be able to trust their therapist and expect that he or she will listen to and respond to their concerns carefully and without judgment. Therapists owe clients respect for their individuality, beliefs, and background.

An Active Collaborative Approach

Clients come with problems and concerns but also with strengths and positive past experiences they can draw on. A key role of a professional psychologist is to help identify and build upon these strengths and experiences in a partnership respecting the resources and competence of each individual client. Clients can then work actively with the psychologist to construct new patterns of thinking and acting that they find more effective.

Brief Treatment

Treatment focusing on the client's strengths and resources often results positive results being produced more quickly and efficiently. Research supports the use of briefer more focused treatment in resolving many client problems. Even clients with more chronic ongoing problems may find periods of brief treatment effective in improving their functioning in many important areas of life.

Appreciation of the Whole Person

Each of us is unique. We have particular qualities, experiences, beliefs, and backgrounds that make us who we are. We are shaped by our relationships to families, friends, communities, and cultures. Dr. Drozda believes it is critically important to respect and develop this uniqueness and all that contributes to it in each person, intellectually, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

To better incorporate the services provided to clients into relevant areas of their lives, Dr. Drozda coordinates care and services with medical, health care, legal, and other professionals and others whom clients designate by expressed authorization.
